Cub Scout Rank Advancement and Crossover Ceremony

A Cub Scouts bridging ceremony is a symbolic event marking a Cub Scout’s transition from one level to the next. During the ceremony, scouts walk across a bridge, representing the crossing from their current Cub Scout rank into the new challenges and opportunities of the Boy Scouts.

Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is a wood car racing event and an annual tradition in our Cub Scout Program. Every year, with adult guidance, Cub Scouts design and build their own miniature wooden cars, and afterall participants showcase their cars and race them down the track in an atmosphere filled with excitement and enthusiasm.

Recycled Regatta

The Regatta is a fun activity for Cub Scouts. They use recycling materials to build a trimaran sailboat that is “wind-powered” by blowing on the sail. Together, they work on making their boat more aerodynamic and enjoyable, striving for success during the race.

Overnight camping

Cub Scouts have plenty of opportunities to participate in overnight camping. Our troop enjoyed camping in different locations like:

  • The Boothbay Park, Foster City – ideal for fist time camper
  • Pinnacles National Park – under 2 hour drive located east of the Salinas Valley in Central California
  • Backpacking at Castle Rock State Park, located along the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains and almost entirely in Santa Cruz County, with parts extending into Santa Clara County and San Mateo County

Day hikes

  • Natural Bridges Monarch Trail

We spent a delightful day in Santa Cruz, wandering through the picturesque Natural Bridges State Beach Park. The eucalyptus grove was alive with monarch butterflies, while the beach and tide pools offered a perfect backdrop for exploration.

Rock Climbing

Climbing is an excellent activity that aligns perfectly with the Cub Scouts theme of outdoor exploration and adventure. In addition to hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities, the cubs have the opportunity to develop their physical and mental strength through the challenging and enjoyable sport of climbing.
